MY BARRIERS, MY GROWTH

Nobody is perfect . . . sorry to let you know that. Every employer has things he or she is not proud about in their workplace. Every job seeker also has things he or she is not proud of. We don’t call these weaknesses! Instead, we call them areas to improve. Often during an interview you will be asked to describe your weak points. You can simply say, “I don’t call these my weaknesses, but they are things I want to improve.”

Below is a checklist of possible areas to improve. We call these barriers. These are things that get us down and make us think no one would hire us. Next to the checklist are examples of how others have improved or how others have faced these barriers.

Start this exercise by checking any barriers you are really concerned about.
